On 26 July, JBay Adventures hosted its first quiz night in aid of Thárros Child and Youth Care Centre. The first of what will hopefully be many charity quiz nights was well attended with all 12 team tables being booked.

The grand prize for the evening was a golf day for the winning team, kindly sponsored by Hankey Country Club.
Gnu World donated funds to cover the raffle and spot prizes on the evening. Gnu also made a cash donation of R2500 to Thárros for daily supplies such as milk and nappies.

The quiz was held at JBay Bru Co., which kindly allowed an area of the restaurant to be reserved for the quiz. The restaurant also donated R20 for every pizza that was ordered on the evening.

With the entry fees, the raffle (which was for a Nutribullet) and the donations from the restaurant, the quiz evening succeeded in raising R5000 for Thárros. Along with the cash donation from Gnu World, the Child and Youth Care Centre received R7500 to support their much-needed work.

Thárros Child and Youth Care Centre is a children’s home for babies and children up to the age of 12 who need shelter after being removed from traumatic or dangerous environments. The centre provides each of the children with a temporary home until their situation is resolved or a more permanent place is found for them.
